A Prayer by Vallalar

Be my friend, be with me.
Be with me, be my guard,
Night and day, be with me.
Be with me, guard me so
No evil follows where I go.

Be with me, dearest friend,
Loving Kindness, be with me.
Be with me, grant me all
That I want, be with me,
Give me all that I ask.

Kindred Soul, be with me.
Be with me, within and without.
Save me, be with me-
Be with me, not one in earth or sky
Troubles me, with you by me.

Be with me, my friend,
United as one, be with me.
Be with me, more dear than life,
Join me in love, be with me.
I shall know no tiredness.

Sweetest friend, be with me,
Be with me, dissolved in joy,
Alive, and aware, be with me,
Be with me, as what I am-
One with me, my life, my love.

. Thiruvarutpa, 1180.

My God!
If Tennyson is not dead already, he will hang himself in shame. "Be with me" is a refrain in one of his wonderful poems. Why have you insulted his memory like this?
